Philosophy

“Good design should feel inevitable, like it was the only way it could have worked.”

How I got here

It’s nice to meet you! I’m Mark Pabustan, a UI/UX designer based in New York with a background in development. Design is where my attention always goes first, the layout, the icons, the small details that decide whether something feels effortless or clunky to use. Give me a problem and I’ll find myself thinking through how it should look and feel before anything else.

But my background in development keeps that instinct honest. My imagination likes to run wild, and knowing how things actually get built pulls every idea back down to something real, polished, and worth making.

Outside of design, you’ll usually find me watching basketball, deep in an anime binge, or catching the latest Marvel movie. I spend a good chunk of time in party chats with friends too, whether we’re playing games or just talking through our days. I used to draw a lot, actually. It’s part of what got me into design in the first place, though these days it mostly sits on the back burner.
